2008 BOM, Sunshine and Shadows with Birds of Wisconsin
October Block, American Goldfinch
home
By popular choice my BOM quilt for 2008 is birds of Wisconsin. I
love to feed the birds, and spend hours watching them out the back
window of my house. I saw an 1800's log-cabin style quilt at a
show called "Sunshine & Shadows". I fell in love with it and
wanted to make a variation of it. I hope you enjoy making this
quilt. Finished quilt size without a border is 54 by 72 inches.
After you add a log-cabin border, it's 72 by 90 inches.
The American Goldfinch is a small bright yellow bird common at
birdfeeders across the country. It is fond
of thistles, eating the seeds and lining its nest from the
down. The female is drab olive in color. In Winter, both
sexes are drab in color.
