2008 BOM, Sunshine and Shadows with Birds of Wisconsin
May Block, Red-winged Blackbird
home
By popular choice my BOM quilt for 2008 is birds of Wisconsin. I
love to feed the birds, and spend hours watching them out the back
window of my house. I saw an 1800's log-cabin style quilt at a
show called "Sunshine & Shadows". I fell in love with it and
wanted to make a variation of it. I hope you enjoy making this
quilt. Finished quilt size without a border is 54 by 72 inches.
After you add a log-cabin border, it's 72 by 90 inches.
The Red-winged Blackbird is found over most of North and Central
America. Northern populations migrate south in single-sex
groups. When they arrive, the males stake out a territory and
defends it against other birds, and annoyingly sometimes, people.
They attract a mate with their song.
