By popular choice my BOM quilt for 2008 is birds of Wisconsin. I
love to feed the birds, and spend hours watching them out the back
window of my house. I saw an 1800's log-cabin style quilt at a
show called "Sunshine & Shadows". I fell in love with it and
wanted to make a variation of it. I hope you enjoy making this
quilt. Finished quilt size without a border is 54 by 72 inches.
After you add a log-cabin border, it's 72 by 90 inches.
The Ruby Throated Hummingbird is the only hummingbird that breeds
in eastern North America. When this bird migrates, it flies
non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico to get to Central America. It
is a tiny bird that hovers when it feeds on flower nectar. The
male has a brilliant iridescent red throat.
