2008 BOM, Sunshine and Shadows with Birds of Wisconsin

July Block, Black-Capped Chickadee

home

By popular choice my BOM quilt for 2008 is birds of Wisconsin.  I love to feed the birds, and spend hours watching them out the back window of my house.  I saw an 1800's log-cabin style quilt at a show called "Sunshine & Shadows".  I fell in love with it and wanted to make a variation of it.  I hope you enjoy making this quilt.  Finished quilt size without a border is 54 by 72 inches.  After you add a log-cabin border, it's 72 by 90 inches.

A banded Black-Capped Chickadee was spotted in central New Jersey with a completely white tail, normally slate gray.  It has rusty brown flanks and a gray back.  It stays in cold climates during the winter, lowering its body temperature at night dramatically to save energy.
