2008 BOM, Sunshine and Shadows with Birds of Wisconsin
August Block, Red-Breasted Nuthatch
home
By popular choice my BOM quilt for 2008 is birds of Wisconsin. I
love to feed the birds, and spend hours watching them out the back
window of my house. I saw an 1800's log-cabin style quilt at a
show called "Sunshine & Shadows". I fell in love with it and
wanted to make a variation of it. I hope you enjoy making this
quilt. Finished quilt size without a border is 54 by 72 inches.
After you add a log-cabin border, it's 72 by 90 inches.
The Nuthatch has a large head, small tail, and powerful bills and feet.
They inhabit woodlands in the Northern Hemishphere, Eurasia, and
Southern Asia. They are non-migratory, and nest in holes and
crevices in trees. They have a habit of wedging a nut into a
crevice in bark, then eating it; that's how they got thier name.
