The Dogtooth Violet is a small herbaceous flowering plant native to
Europe. It produces a sole white, lilac, or pink flower at the
beginning of Spring. The pedals are about 3 centimeters that are
reflexed at the top and yellow tinted at the base. The white
rootstock are oblong, hence the name. It is often grown as an
ornamental garden plant. The Showy Lady's Slipper is also known
as the pink-and-white lady slipper is a rare orchid found in eastern
North America. It is the state flower of Minnesota and is illegal
to pick there. This flower can take 16 years to grow and bloom
for the first time.
