The Muskie Block
The Muskellunge, or Muskie, is Wisconsin's State Fish, and is a very
popular game fish, being big and aggressive. It is said to be the
"fish of a thousand casts" because it is so difficult to catch. A
Muskie will grow to be two to seven feet long, ten to 20 pounds, (and
rarely as much as 60 pounds), and can live up to ten years. I
have never caught one, but I caught two Coho Salmon last year across
the border at Lake Superior Provincial Park in Canada.
Finished size of the Wisconsin Pride quilt is 85" x 106". This quilt is traditional
needle-turn appliqué quilt (Appliqué Samplers),
finished block size is 21" x 21". The color combinations are red
and green, blue and yellow, etc. Cut background fabric to 23" x
23", then once the appliqué block is done, trim the block to
21.5"x21.5".
